Travel Info

The Outer Banks is a pretty cool spot. It’s remote so travel can be lengthy, but being removed is part of the charm. The OBX, as it’s known to many, is a group of barrier islands that run from the Virginia border down the North Carolina coast. Water on both sides, so we get calm water and great sunsets over the Sound, but also miles of beaches including pretty secluded beaches and beaches you can drive with a 4X4 vehicle, plus gnarly surf, great sunrises over the ocean, and wild horses….not to mention the location of the Wright Brothers' first flight, home to Black Beard the Pirate, and the list goes on. There is a lot to offer all ages…more than can be handled in a busy wedding weekend, so I guess you’ll have to come back and visit again.

The wedding is in Colington, which is a small area on the West side of Kill Devil Hills that overlooks the Sound and the sunset.

Hotels are along the beach

We blocked a group of rooms at Colony IV, which has good reviews on TripAdvisor and a decent price, but if you do a Google search for hotels or Vacation Rentals in the area you will return a lot of options.

This area can be a bit pricey, especially during the summer, but keep in mind it’s a tough economy, so don’t be shy about negotiating…everyone is willing to make a deal.

A creative way to save a few bucks could be to sit through an hour and a half sales pitch for a time share in the area and save about 50% on your lodging. I know of one guest that has already done this, and as coincidence would have it, the time share has a deal with Colony IV.

Hope this info helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

Can’t wait to see y’all.

Much love,

A
